Shimla is 8 hours drive from Delhi. Luxury Coaches of Himachal Roadways, Himachal Tourism and other private operators are easily available .AC- Non AC taxis can also be hired from Delhi for the round trip.
Delhi to Shimla by Coach- Rs. 350/- per person one way.
Shimla is well connected by train. You can opt for the overnight Kalka Mail from Delhi which reaches early next morning, and then switch over to the "Toy Train". The narrow gauge train takes 4-5 hrs to reach Shimla going through Lovely Mountain side and 101 tunnels.
In the alternative you can take the early morning train Himalayan Queen form Dehi to reach Shimla by 11:20 am and then take the Toy Train or a 3 hours ride by taxi to Shimla which cost Rs.900 approx. for 4 persons.
